Crock Pot Applesauce Nothing beats homemade apple sauce, making it in the crock pot is easy and your house will smell divine while the apples and cinnamon simmer all day long. I use just a touch of sugar, but if your apples are sweet and you wish to make apple with no sugar, it will still be delicious. And since so many are asking, although I have and love my Instant Pot, I still love my slow cooker! I love it because you can adjust the time you want it to cook, and it automatically turns to warm when it’s done.
Use a combination of Golden Delicious, Honey Crisp, Fuji, Gala, etc. Place them in the slow cooker. Add the cinnamon stick, lemon peel, lemon juice and brown sugar. Set crock pot to low and cook for 6 hours. Stir apples occasionally, apples will slowly become a delicious applesauce.
Remove cinnamon stick and use an immersion blender to blend until smooth or if you prefer a chunky sauce, leave sauce intact. Slow cooker shredded chicken with corn, tomatoes and black beans. I have made this for years to can or freeze. If you make sure each apple has a red skin, your applesauce will be pink. Been looking for a crockpot applesauce that I could can. I am never going back to store bought applesauce. I needed to add one cup water.
It was easy and well worth the wait. A perfect way to use all the apples from the local apple orchard. This was the perfect side dish to the roasted pork I served for dinner tonight. I am so excited to make your apple sauce nut bread in the morning! Who knew applesauce could be so good AND easy?
