Dost had toured with the Format and provided various instrumentation, and Ruess met Antonoff after the Format toured with Steel Train. Recording took place in the fall of 2008. The band’s first single, “At Least I’m Not as Sad As I Used to Be” was made available as a free download on the band’s Myspace page on April 6, 2009.
